The foundation capital

 

The foundation capital amounts to CHF 6.5 million at the end of 2023.

Flow and use of funds from 1977 to 2023

From 1977 to 2023, the R. Geigy Foundation supported the Swiss TPH with a total of CHF 39'575'041.

Of this amount, CHF 12,112,127 (30.6%) went into research; CHF 4'792'239 was invested to support dissertations; CHF 389'410 for post-doctoral studies and CHF 865'197 for further education which corresponds to 15.3% in education and training.

CHF 11,183,180 was spent on providing infrastructure and CHF 410,855 on equipment, devices and instruments. This corresponds to a share of 29.3 %. Moreover, the R. Geigy Foundation offered CHF 7'568'506 (19.1%) strategic support to Swiss TPH in the last three years. 

Various projects were supported with CHF 525,082 (1.3%) from the Ermitage Fund.

The anniversary package (for the 70th anniversary of the Swiss Tropical Institute and the Swiss TPH) and miscellaneous amounted to CHF 1,728,445 (4.4%).

IMPACT

 

The R. Geigy-Stiftung supports the Swiss TPH in generating and validating scientific results and implementing them together with the local population. Since 1976, the foundation has supported this value chain from innovation to validation and implementation with about CHF 39 million. In addition, the R. Geigy-Stiftung supports individuals, infrastructure projects and projects for knowledge transfer.
